Top 5 Picks local to Yalikavak
I received a really complimentary email off Elaine a few weeks ago “Just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for your great website, and for the help it gave us in organising and enjoying our holiday. You helped us choose our destination of Yalikavak – which was perfect, exactly what we wanted in a destination and thanks to you we found the oldest hammam in Bodrum and went to Geris on the dolmus for lunch, and may not have done either of these things if we had not found out about them from you. Thank you.“
It’s feedback like this that makes publishing this website so worthwhile, and I asked Elaine to share her Top 5 with us. It’s a been a while since I posted a Top 5, and it reminded me how insightful and useful these articles can be, especially when they’re accompanied by stunning photo’s (all provided by Elaine and Chris)
Yalikavak Boat Trip
My #1 Pick: A boat trip with the cooperative in Yalikavak, south wards to Gumusluk, but either direction delivers the wind in your hair, lovely coastline, turquoise water and perfect swimming spots.
Dolmus from Yalikavak to Gumusluk
My #2 Pick: Dolmus to Gumusluk to wander round the craft market, wade out to Rabbit Island and climb to the top then have gozleme in a small cafe run by Turkish ladies (I even helped with the rolling out).
Dolmus from Yalikavak to Geris Village
My #3 Pick: Dolmus to the Panorama Pasanda restaurant in Geris for lunch. We shared some great homemade meze and had a couple of beers, admiring the fabulous view. A lovely outing to punctuate the sunbathing.
Picking a Cocktail and Sunset Location
My #4 Pick: Choosing where to view the fabulous sunset, drinking a cocktail at a beach bar in Yalikavak, or from Geris Alti where the sun almost sinks into the sea.
Wandering around Yalikavak
My #5 Pick: Wandering round Yalikavak in the balmy evening, first to choose what to eat … fish by the harbour … or pide in the town, then afterwards through craft stands for holiday trinkets.
