If you’re looking for the location of the weekly Gümüşlük farmers market, head to the middle of the village and look out for the mosque and Post Office, which are on the North side of the street.
- Here’s a link to the Wikipedia page I created which has pictures of all three of Gümüşlük’s mosques.
On Wednesday’s you’ll have no problem finding the market. They’ll be a flurry of village folks lugging heavy bags of produce along the street, and parking in the immediate area is chaotic.
I had a wander around the mosque on my way back from the market, and found myself in the ablutions hall, with a bookcase full of wooden and leather mosque sandals.
The Post Office
As in most villages and towns, the Post Office is adjacent or part of a mosque. Gümüşlük’s Post Office is pretty small, but it offer postal and banking services.
Next to the Post Office is a textile and clothing shop, which sells fabric, sewing, knitting and crafting supplies.
Kadri Ozsari Park
This park is behind the Post Office and beside the mosque, and has statues and a well maintained kiddies playground.
Is that it?
- If you walk West, just over a KM away is Gümüşlük Beach and Bay
- If you walk East about 1/2 km, you’ll be in the hub of the Gümüşlük business area, where there’s another mosque, a few cafes, some local businesses and a couple of gourd and light shops.
