Introduction to Dağbelen
The mountain village of Dağbelen is a little off the beaten track, but it’s location provides the visitor with some stunning views of the area around Yalikavak.
Even though Dağbelen is part of the Yalikavak Municipality, not much has been written about it.
Location
- Dağbelen is a mountain village directly South of Gündoğan, but is reached from a side-road off the main Yalikavak to Ortakent road
- It’s ~8km South-East of Yalikavak.
Getting There
- If you’re driving out of Yalikavak, the turn-off to Dağbelen is 400 meters after the 3 hilltop windmills.
- Once you turn off the main road, follow the side-road for ~3km to reach Dağbelen
- You can also reach Dağbelen by hiking from the Farliya Horse Farm near Gündoğan
Things to do
- Dağbelen is popular with walkers and hikers, and the pine forest and peak to the north poses a dramatic back drop to the village.
Sightseeing
- In the village you can see the ruins of houses and stone fences from ancient times
- On the gravel paths you’ll encounter flocks of sheep and shepherds; and amongst forest trees, remnants of the past are marked by ruins of churches and monasteries.
