The growth of Gümüşlük weekly market
The Gümüşlük weekly market (pazar) has grow substantially over the years, and I’ve been tracking its growth since we first visited it 8 years ago. For those who know the area, I’d say that Gümüşlük Market today is about the size that Yalikavak Thursday Market was about 8 years ago, but that market has actually expanded so much that now it’s split into two days. Tuesday is Yalikavak Food market and Thursday is Yalikavak textiles and clothes market.
Here’s the view of the market as you approach it from the street:
Back to Gümüşlük weekly market
It’s only a short jaunt for us to visit the Gümüşlük weekly market, and now that summer is in full force, the best time to visit is in the morning. We got there at about 8.30am today, and there were still a few textile and clothing stalls still setting up, but the food stalls were all in full swing.

More Articles about Gümüşlük Market
Here’s a couple of articles looking back at Gümüşlük weekly market in 2011 and 2013 .. I really wish I’d taken photos of the market in 2008, but to be honest, back then there really wasn’t much too it.
My local market every spring. How I miss it when back in Australia. The Gozleme lady’s food is fresh and light and so addictive, she has magic fingers with dough making.
She always has a big smile on her face too Sally. We saw her in Yalikavak market for years – from the very first year we visited, so it’s nice to see her make her way over to Gumusluk now too.
