While hiking around the mountains just north of Gümüşlük making balanced stone cairns, Algis stumbled upon this natural stone arch near Karakya. It is also a Mimetolith or Pareidolia of a giant Elephant according to one local resident.
It is really magical and awe inspiring and well worth the small trek to see it. Originally I named it “The Arch of Algis” Because I knew nothing about it and it cannot be seen from down on the road but now that I know it is known as the Elephant Arch maybe it should be named that….. Algis Kemezys
