Coffee should be Black as Hell,
Strong as Death and Sweet as Love
Old Turkish Proverb
When you’re ordering Turkish Coffee, bear in mind that the sugar is added during the boiling process, so if you’re out at a restaurant or cafe, the waiter will want to know how sweet you want your Turkish Coffee.
There are three ways to order it:
- Sade (without sugar)
- Orta (the Turkish word for medium, in this case little sugar)
- Sekerli (for sweet)
I love my coffee black and strong – and when I’m drinking filtered coffee, I don’t add any milk or sugar. But when I’m drinking Turkish Coffee, I like a little bit of sugar …. so I order “Orta”.
Have you converted to Turkish Coffee?
i really liked the poverb…and i have to say that is what we do in Nepal when we make tea, add sugar while boiling…
