We’re creatures of habit. Before we meander around Turgutreis weekly Saturday market, we have a coffee or breakfast at the Turgutreis Belidiye Cafe—The Amiral. Imagine our disappoinment when we went for a pre-market breakfast this Saturday, and the cafe was shut and deserted.
One of the local vendors told us it had moved to behind Sunset. She pointed in the general direction of the beach, and we weren’t quite sure where it was, but we’d figure we’d find it. Sure enough—a brand spanking new cafe, overlooked the beach.
It’s still only half open. The cafe extends on either side of one of the pedestrian alleys leading towards the market, but only the larger right side with the counters and food service was open.
A narrow pedestrian bridge spanned the two buildings to connect the roof top decks. So once this cafe is open 100%, it’s going to have quite a capacity. Especially with the outside patio tables overlooking the beach.
It’s a sad farewell to the old location, which was nicely tucked away the other side of the fish harbour, and you could watch the little boats while you had your breakfast. But this new modern building is an improvement, especially with the full-length windows overlooking the water.
Once the roof deck opens, you’ll have a great view of the beach and islands. This is a fabulous location for sunset.
Ordering Food and Drink
Each Belediye Cafe operates a little differently, and the Turgutreis location is self-service. You order your food and drinks at the counter and you get a receipt and your order ticket.
When you want your drinks (either right away or with your food) take your ticket to the drinks counter just beside the cash register, and they’ll give you your drinks and cross them off your order ticket.
Keep the order ticket, as it has your food service number on it. There’s a TV screen displaying the numbers, and a small chime sounds each time a new order is called. When your order is ready, take your ticket up to the counter to pick up your food.
All the staff were wearing face masks and there was hand sanitizer in different spot around the cafe. Plus there’s hand soap in the toilets.

Location of the Amiral Cafe
The map location on the official Amiral Cafe page on the Bodrum Belediye is still wrong (as at September 2020), it’s showing the old location.
It’s a three minute walk to the new location.
Hello,
we, who live in turgutreis, have a humble wish, the plastic chairs in our Admiral cafe do not adapt to Bodrum and the environment at all, we think that if you replace them with Bodrum blue wooden chairs, we will have a more enjoyable cafe with more customers.
Thank you for your interest.
