Local Food at a Reasonable Prices

If you’re looking for a place to each lunch, or maybe grab an inexpensive dinner, Gümüşlük Harbour may not be the first location that comes to mind.  But if you steer clear of the popular tourist establishments that line the harbour, you’ll find establishments that appeal just as much to the locals, as budget conscious travelers..

Although there’s a plethora of pricier Fish Restaurants lining the harbour, there’s also a good selection of traditional Turkish cafes and restaurants offering local dishes at reasonable prices.

Dalgic Restaurant

Look out for the Gümüşlük Belediyesi office, and the other side of the covered row of beach shops and bakkals,  you’ll see the Dalgiç Restaurant, which has been serving a wide variety of traditional Turkish dishes for over 15 years.

This restaurant has plenty of covered seating, and during the season they are rumoured to be open 24 hours a day.

On the Menu

Their specialities include traditional soups and vegetable side dishes, as well the standard selection of meze, like stuffed zucchini flowers.  They also serve grilled meat and fish, and of course my favourite, Gözleme.

If you haven’t visited one of the local markets to try a Gözleme, you should order one at the Dalgiç Restaurant – guaranteed to keep hunger at bay for many hours!

Other budget refreshments

Not far away for the Dalgiç, is the Gümüşlük Tea Garden which is an ideal location for enjoying the harbour view, whilst enjoying a cup of tea or Turkish Coffee.  It’s fronted by a small Food kiosk where you can buy a selection of Turkish sandwiches for a few Lira.
