I’m a sucker for a Sarniç!
I love playing “spot the Sarniç” as I drive around the Bodrum Peninsula. They come in various stages of repair/disrepair, and can be spotted in towns, villages and dotted across the landscape.
So imagine my glee upon discovering this site – with the biggest collection of Sarniç photo’s imaginable.
Photographer
The photographer, Sab, is a Turkish native and has amassed a vast collection of Sarniç photographs. As well as organizing them by location, he’s also tagged them with a map coordinate, so you can retrace his steps and visit these local water cisterns for yourself.

His photo’s are organized by Location:
Once you’ve clicked on a location, a new page will open up to show all Sarniçs in the area.
Then you can click on the individual photo’s to display a larger photo, a hyperlink to a map, as well as the coordinates.
My Top 3 Sarniçs
I spent some time perusing Sab’s entire collection of photographs, and have picked out my Top 3 Sarniç photo’s:
#1. Of course I love the goats! But I like the rustic looking exterior of this Sarniç
#2. In direct comparison to #1, this is a pristine Sarniç example.
#3. This made my list, because of the photo composition.
