A Perfect Turkish Screwdriver

I Love Instanblue Vodka Ad

Istanblue Vodka Turkey Blue and White Ad RegularAccording to their website, the distilling process used to make Istanblue vodka, creates one of the purest and most neutral vodka brands worldwide.

All undesirable odours and flavours are removed via a specially designed filtration system; then, soft clean water (I should hope so!) is added, before the Vodka is left to mature.

Price over Purity

All this information is fabulous, but didn’t play any part during the selection process.

When I bought my first bottle of Istanblue at the local Migros Store with the best view, I saw the price of imported vodka.  Looked for a cheaper alternative. And Istanblue won my patronage!

This distiller creates a large variety of different flavoured vodkas (all 40%), but I bought the Original — and it didn’t last very long.

Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

There are so many citrus groves in the Bodrum area, it’s an ideal place to sample fresh orange juice (“portakal”). And you can get a glass of fresh juice at any of the local juice stands.

Take it one step further and give them an empty bottle, and you can take some OJ home to keep your Istanblue company.

  • Tall Glass with Ice
  • Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
  • Istanblue vodka (to taste)
  • And if you’re feeling fancy, a slice or orange for garnish

So how pure is Istanblue Vodka?

Well, a group of us polished off the Istanblue one night; crawled into bed in the wee small hours, just before the first ezan of the day, and none of us had a hangover the next day.  But I will admit that we didn’t do anything strenuous, the next day, we just laid by the pool all day!

Well – what are holidays for!
