Local Mosque
Whilst this isn’t the most stunning Mosque, it’s indicitive of many of the off-the-beaten track Mosques on the Peninsula. It was being built when we first bought our house and the sound of the Call to Prayer 5 times a day adds a certain local charm to this area.
As well as serving it’s usual purpose, this Mosque also serves as a great landscape marker on the main Gümüşlük to Yalikavak road, and helps you locate the Koyunbaba area:
- If you’re coming from Gümüşlük, you’ll see the Mosque in the distance, and know you’re nearing the house when you drive past it.
- If you’re coming from Yalikavak, and you go past the Mosque, you know you’ve gone too far.
Handily, it’s also next door to the local Migros store with the best view of all Migros stores, so it’ll help you locate that too.
I love waking up to the first call to prayer just before Sunrise. You can hear it from the houses in the area, but it isn’t too intrusive.
