Driving Through Ortakent Town
Ortakent Town translates to “Middle Town” and is one of those areas you’ll probably travel through at least once during your holiday, because of its central inland location.
The last time I drove through it, I was heading to Ortakent-Yahsi beach, so I didn’t hang around for long, but I parked near the taxi stand to take a few photos:
The taxi stand is also a good landmark for find the back route to the Bodrum Golf course in the heart of Ortakent. This golf course is still in the throws of being developed, but they have at least 5 holes all ready to play.
Just across the road from the taxi stand, is the PTT (Post Office).
There’s quite a few shops in this area too, although I didn’t wander far enough up the street to find out what I was missing out on!
This is a busy road, so be careful when you’re crossing the street. Just up the road is this popular Borek and Simit shop, which Sedef raves about.
You’re also a stones throw away from the central town square.
As well as the requisite Ataturk statue, there were a group of children practicing their dance steps, in the town’s pedestrian area.
100 metres further along the road, is the turn off to Ortakent Beach. You can’t miss the Surf Board sign post for Fink Beach. These signs point to the back route that’ll take you to the mellow, and chilled back area of Ortakent Beach.
Before I jumped back in my car to explore the beach area, I took a couple more photo’s. I spotted a small cafe called Atilgan, right next door to the taxi rank.
And I spotted the Akyarlar-bound dolmus. So if you’re staying in the Ortakent area, and want to explore the South West coastline — just stick out your hand, and the dolmus will stop to pick you up, anywhere along this main road.
