Welcome to Milas-Bodrum Airport
The other day I realized that I’ve spent nearly a year focusing on what to do on the Bodrum Peninsula during your stay, but completely omitted to include any information about the Milas-Bodrum Airport, or how to get from the Airport to your destination.
But an email I received the other day, asking for Airport transfer information, has triggered me to create a series of “Transportation” themed articles ….. starting with the basics:
About Bodrum Airport
- The airport is situated 36 kms northeast of Bodrum, and 16 kms south of Milas.
- In the Spring of 2012, a brand new International Terminal was Opened.
- The Old International is now the new Domestic terminal.
- Airport Code: BJV
Airlines that operate flights into Bodrum/Milas Airport:
Atlasjet | LTU International | Thomas Cook Airlines |
Corendon Airlines | Martinair | transavia.com |
First Choice Airways | SunExpress | Turkish Airlines |
Onur Air | ||
Imair Airlines | Pegasus Airlines | |
Rossiya |
Ground Transportation options from Bodrum Airport:
1. Havaş Shuttle service from the Domestic Terminal
There is no regular bus service from the airport. HAVAS coaches operate from the domestic terminal in conjunction with Turkish Airlines flights to and from Istanbul. The trip to the central bus station in Bodrum costs about €3. (As of June 2012)
2. Other Shuttle Services
A single airport-run shuttle bus offers transit to a few destinations with a final destination of Bodrum city centre. But there are privately owned shuttle bus companies, that offer transit to more desintations, which can be booked on line and a much cheaper option than a Taxi.
3. Airport Taxi
Taxis dominate the transport scene but are also the most expensive option to all local destinations in Bodrum or Milas. A rate board posted at the terminal displays the fares to 44 towns in the region. The fare into Bodrum town centre is about €40. Other fares generally range from €0.70-€0.80 per kilometre. (As of June 2012)
4. Car Hire
There are number of global Car Hire companies based at the airport (e.g. Hertz; Avis; Europcar), but there are many, many more local companies offering lower cost Car Hire options.
5. Get a friend to pick you up!
Getting a Taxi – Expensive. Getting a friend to pick you up – Priceless!

Hi.
my partner and myself are going to Milas this year. Staying at secret garden complex. Usually we holiday in icmeler.
Neither of us are confident with driving over there, so wondered if you had any tips on the best way to travel into Bodrum? Also is there alot to do in Milas?
Thank you,
Kym.
Hi Kym .. Milas is about 50 km from Bodrum, and can be reached via the Milas to Bodrum dolmuş service. It’s also a stop along the route for buses coming from the northern towns, like Soke, heading to Bodrum.
There’s a big market every Tuesday in Milas, which is one of the largest and well-attended markets in the area. As well as local villagers from the surrounding area selling their produce, it’s an opportunity to buy traditional handicrafts directly from the artisans who created them. Milas Market is cheaper than any of the markets on the Bodrum Peninsula. It’s famous for its regional textiles, rugs and carpets, but also has a vast array of clothing. It also has a large fresh produce section, much of which is organically grown.
Gulluk is only about 25km away from Milas, and it’s got a pretty bay with restaurants, and a few shops, and boats trips. You can get a dolmuş from Milas to Gulluk.
Here’s a link to some more Gulluk Information:

Unfortunately I haven’t spent a lot of time in Milas, and other than the market, I’m not that familiar with it.
