Meteoroloji (Meteor) Beach, Turgutreis

Along this part of the coastline, you’ll drive past the Lighthouse, and the road will veer inland.  Drive past the Hotel Tansel, Club Armonia and the Malama Beach Hotel.  When the road starts running adjacent to the coast again, you’ll see the nose of Kos in the distance.  Continue to follow the road as it curves, and you’ll be parallel to Meteor Beach.  From here to Turgutreis Town Centre is about 7km.

This is the first beach on the Southern tip of the peninsula, and is a popular anchor stop for the southern boat tours from Turgutreis.  When I took a boat trip from Turgutreis, we stopped at Meteor for about 20 minutes, and i took the first photo in the series above.

While I was searching for other photo’s of the beach, I came across these great black and white photo’s from the early 70’s.  It’s amazing to see the Peninsula as it was – I would have loved to have discovered it back then!
