Map of Bitez

Like many of the destinations on the Bodrum Peninsula, Bitez village consists of two locations.  The traditional town lies inland, just south of the main Turgutreis to Bodrum road.  But follow that road down to Bitez Bay, and you’ll find the main hub of tourist activity.

But there’s more to Bitez than just the traditional and tourist hubs.

Hiking

If your circle round the bay towards the harbour, you can pick up the hiking trail to the narrow part of the peninsula. There’s a Sarniç (these water cisterns are locally known as Gumbets) on higher ground, and you can make your way over to the other side of this finger of land to end up at Aquarium Bay.

Exploring the rural lanes 

Behind all of the restaurants, bars and shops that line the bay, are some quiet back lanes that’ll lead you through the citrus groves.  Take one of these to enjoy some rural peace and quiet, amid the heady perfume of orange blossom.
