Tigaki Beach
If you’re heading to Kos for the day but want to steer clear of Kos Town, why not venture along the northern coastline to one of the islands most coveted beaches.
- Tigaki Beach is on the north-eastern coastline of Kos, and approximately 12 km from Kos Town.
- This 10km long, white sand beach has clear shallow waters, and is one of the prettiest and most well known beaches on the island. The width of the beach varies dramatically, from wide sandy beaches to narrow strips of sand hugging the coastline.
- At the popular parts of the beach are sunbeds, umbrellas and water sports equipment available to rent.
What’s Nearby?
- The surrounding area is a busy tourist location with plenty of accommodation, restaurants, tourist shops, cafeterias and bars.
Getting to Tigaki by Taxi
- There’s a taxi rank by the port and a few more dotted around the town
- The cost of a taxi to Tigaki Beach from Kos Town is €16-18 each way
Getting to Tigaki by Bus
Getting to Tigaki by Bicycle
Cycling is a popular past time in Kos, and there are plenty of Bike Rental shops in Kos Town
- The average price is 3€ to 8€ depending on the quality of the bike.
I created the following bike route on bikemap.net:
- 23km round trip
- The coastal bike path is primarily flat, and the inland bike route peaks at about 40 meters near the village of Zipari.
- If you want to avoid the climb just stick to the coastal bike path in both directions between Kos Town and Tigaki Beach.

Is there time to visit Tigaki Beach on a Day Trip from Bodrum or Turgutreis?
The arrival and departure time of the various ferries and boats from Turgutreis and Bodrum varies slightly, but if we use the Bodrum Express Lines arrival and departure times as a guide:
- Boat docks at 10:30am/Boat departs at 4:30pm
- Allow an hour to clear customs on arrival in Kos (time can vary based on time of year, but this hour allocation is a good buffer)
- Allow an hour buffer prior to the boat departure from Kos
This gives you a 4 hour window of activity in Kos, which is more than enough time to:
- Hire a bike and cycle to and from Tigaki Beach; allowing for a 1 hour leisurely ride in both directions (half the time if you get into “Bradley Wiggins” mode!)
- That leaves you with at least a couple of hours for a quick dip in the water and then lunch.
The bus times don’t work quite so conveniently if you’re visiting for a day trip, but you could see if you could take a taxi one-way or even both ways to make the timing work out.
