Dip your toe into Turkish Culture
The Turkish town of Bodrum is sometime referred to as the local Saint-Tropez. It offers a little bit of everything – ancient culture, museums; festivals; beautiful nature, spectacular marina, rich local cuisine, etc. Below you can find my Top 5 things to do when in Bodrum:
Visit Karaada
The island of Karaada or the Black Island is just 6km away from Bodrum. It is mostly known of its healing mineral waters. It’s a popular tourist destination, and is easily accessible by boat.
Do not get misled by the name – it’s very green and clean. The island is also a well-known place for yachts and day boats. For visitors who want to stay overnight, there is a small motel and a restaurant on the island.
Enjoy a Turkish Bath
You cannot fully experience Turkey without having a traditional Turkish bath, which is historically called a “hamam”. The Bodrum Hamam is centrally located just opposite the bus station.
Usually the scrub and washing services takes about 15 minutes but you can stay in the hamam as long as you want.

Take a Look Back in Time in the Bodrum Castle
The Bodrum Castle is one of the major tourist attractions in this part of Turkey. The castle was built in the 15th century by the Knights Hospitaller. Throughout the years the castle has been used for different purposes, and was used as a military base, a prison and a garrison station.
Now it’s home of the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, and offers an amazingly rich collection of different items reclaimed from the depths.

The late Zeki Muren was one of the most beloved Turkish artists. He was a singer, a composer and an actor. He was and still is a legend in Turkey. Zeki Muren suffered a heart attack during his live performance in Izmir in 1996 and died.
His home in Bodrum has been turned into museum now and people from all over the country come to visit.

Go to the Bardakci Cove
The picturesque Bardakci Cove is just 500 metres away from Bodrum, and is a nicer beach than the man-made beach near bar street. You can reach it by dolmus, or better still, a water taxi from Bodrum Marina.
