The underwater sunken path leading to Rabbit Island
This statue marks the end of Gümüşlük harbour where you can step off dry land and navigate across to Rabbit Island using the sunken walls of the ancient city of Myndos as your underwater sunken path.
Up until a couple of years ago, you used to be able to walk over to Rabbit Island and hike to it’s peak. More recently, the area has been designated as an archeological site where no visitors are currently permitted, but you can still take a walk across the underwater causeway, and journey to the edge of Rabbit Island, which is a great vantage point for a photo op of Gümüşlük Bay.
It will probably be a couple more years before access is opened up to the public, but then it’ll be established as an historical landmark, and visitors will once again, be encouraged.
