Local Handicraft Stalls
Over the years, Gümüşlük has become popular with various artists. Painters, musicians, writers and designers have migrated from larger cities throughout Turkey, to settle in the creative tranquility of this small fishing village.
Artists display their works at the Municipality Handmade Craft Market (El SanatlarıÇarşısı), as well as from one of the many handicrafts stalls set up along the Handicraft Bazaar at the entrance to the harbour. I love that this isn’t a slick operation – take a look at the makeshift firing kiln on one of the local glass makers.
If you park in the Gümüşlük parking lot, you’ll walk past the stalls on your way to the beach and restaurants. This Craft Market is open daily, and is great for a stroll before or after dinner. These handicrafts and art objects are made by local artists that live in Gümüşlük.

Cash Point Machines
Don’t worry if you come across a “must have” piece of art or local craft – but you don’t have the funds to follow through on the purchase. At the top end of the Craft market, right opposite the Taxi Rank, is a group of Cash Point Machines. Talk about convenient — it’s so much easier to barter, when the currency is cold hard cash.
Thank you for sharing these photos! I will definitely have to take a look at this market when my travel partner and I go on our this September. There’s nothing I love more than exploring traditional arts of a place that I’m visiting. Now I’m even more looking forward to it!
