Travelling by Dolmuş

The public transportation system is a great way to get around the Bodrum Peninsula. It’s easy to get from the majority of towns and villages to Bodrum Central, but there’s one route that’s a little bit patchy during the winter, and that’s getting from Gümüşlük to Yalıkavak.

Even though they’re only about 7km apart, there’s no regular service to get between the two, unless you change at Gümüşkaya to get off the Gümüşlük-run dolumş to change to the Yalıkavak-run dolumş.

The one exception to this is the coastal bus route that runs between Turgutreis to Türkbükü. During the winter we’re lucky if it runs once an hour, and it stops running at about 6pm.

Below you’ll find the 2016 summer timetable, and the autumn one that took effect on the 19th September.

SUMMER TIMETABLE 2016

But that has changed now that the summer timetable is in effect. Here’s the timetable from Yalıkavak, the bus fares for all destinations and departure points, and the towns and villages it travels through.

Bus Timetable for the Turgutreis to Türkbükü dolmuş route from Yalıkavak

Here’s the coastal bus timetable departure times from Yalıkavak going in either direction.

• First bus in each direction leaves Yalıkavak at 8:15am
• Last bus in each direction leaves Yalıkavak at 8:15pm

The bus stop for the coastal route dolmuş is just by the entrance to the Yalıkavak bus garage. The buses from both directions come in to the garage and turn around before picking up passengers at this stop.

The bus times in both directions coincide, so make sure you get on the bus going in the right direction. There’s a sign in the window which will have the destination at the bottom of the list (e.g. Turgutreis to Türkbükü).

Here’s the coastal bus timetable departure times from Yalıkavak going in either direction.

• First and last bus to Turgutreis leaves Gündoğan at 7:55am and 7:55pm
• First and last bus to Türkbükü leaves Gündoğan at 8:25am and 8:25pm

  • Departures times approx. 20 minutes prior to Yalıkavak arrival time. e.g. the dolmuş that arrives in Yalıkavak at 12:45, leaves Gümüşkaya at 25 past 12.

AUTUMN TIMETABLE

Here’s the timetable that took effect in September that shows the departure times from both ends of this route.

• First bus from both garages starts at 07:30am
• Last bus departs at 8:00pm from both ends
• Departures from Yalikavak therefore are 45 mins later in each direction.
