Yalikavak Boat Cooperative
Head through Yalikavak town, and nestled in the corner of the harbour breakwater are the day boats from the Yalikavak Cooperative. There’s the standard offering of South and North. The South Tours does a loop down to Gümüşlük, and the North Tour ventures out and around the Yalikavak peninsula.
Cooler
This part of the coastline is usually 10 degrees cooler, and the wind is stronger than the more protected beaches on the South — something to bear in mind if you’re planning a boat trip early or late in the season before the weather is optimal.
Price and Size
The advertised price is more expensive than the departures from Bodrum and Turgutreis, and the selection of boats in Yalikavak harbour are a lot smaller than the boats that depart from the big 2, but if you’re looking for a more intimate boat trip, that isn’t packed with party-goers, this could be a good option for you. The Yalikavak boat cooperative have set prices.
Recommendations from the local residents
- Sinan Alanç runs the new larger Dilara boat that’s moored by the Yalikavak Belediye Cafe. They also do an evening trip 5-9pm, and the food is reported to be great. (Dilara Facebook Page) (Mobile: 0555 765 19 77)
- Fedayi Bozkurt runs the Sandima 1 in the corner of the day boat harbour. Food is home cooked by his mother. (Mobile: 0536 566 89 28)
- Cengiz runs the Mavi Kus in the harbor.
- Mustafa Toker runs the Simge 2 (Telephone: 0252 385 27 06) (simgeyachting@hotmail.com)

Natalie, over at Turkish Travel Blog, almost went on a 1 hour fishing boat trip from Yalikavak, but didn’t quite make it. Click on link to find out why.
I would prefer a smaller boat than the big ones that you see in the other resorts. Smaller means less people and more peace 🙂

I have to agree. I’ve been on 3 boats from the larger resorts of Bodrum and Turgutries. But next time we go out, I’ll be climbing on board a Gumusluk, Yalikavak or Turkbuku vessel. So maybe it’ll be a little bit more expensive, but definitely worth it.

Addendum:
Read on TurkishLiving forum that a group of 8 rented the Sandima with Fediee – and took the South route to Gumusluk. They’ve been on the boat 4 times already, and he’s a really nice man — and his mum does all the cooking, which is really, really good.
