The old Tuzla Cafe goes Hollywood and becomes CinemArt Cafe
When we first moved into the area, this restaurant was called Tuzla, but it was closed for business, which was a shame because it was within walking distance of our house, and looked like a stunning location for dinner. I’d been dying to get into the building and have a look around, but I had to make do with a snoop over the well-designed wall.
Imagine our glee when we discovered it had been bought by a local family; renamed CinemArt; and was now open for business. Even though we arrived shortly before they were due to close, the owners (mother and daughter) were very friendly and hospitable and didn’t hurry us through our meal. But we did end up bring more business in. When we’d walked past the dolmuş stop on the main Gümüşlük to Yalikavak road, a couple who’d been waiting for the next bus to Gümüşlük, started to follow us down the hill to CinemArt (turned out they lived in the complex next to us, and when we were gardening the next day, we saw them waving from their house!)
The food at CinemArt was traditional and family oriented, and very reasonable. The selection of dishes were a little bit limited, but the food was enjoyable, and the setting was sublime – and decorated with personalized gourds adorned with the name of the restaurant hanging from the ceiling. How did it get it’s new name? Well, the daughter loves movies, of course!
If you plan on going there for dinner, I think they usually close about 9 or 9.30am… we’re on the sleepy side of there peninsula here!
Location
It’s a little off the main road, but there’s an illuminated sign at the top of the road. If your coming from Gümüşlük, it’s couple of hundred yards from the Migros, on the same side of the road.
