Fill up your tank!
If you rent a car in Turkey, there will probably be a minimal amount of petrol/gas in your car, and not a lot of petrol stations open as you get further from the Airport – especially if you’re arriving at night.
So it’s best to fill up as you leave the airport – you’ll pass them as they’re on the main road.
Anecdote: The first time we picked up our rental car at Bodrum-Milas airport, we decided to avoid the Airport Petrol stations. We thought they’d be overpriced, and instead headed straight for our destination. It was 3am by the time we got to Yalikavak, and we had to back-track to find the only available petrol station that was open. It was a stressful way to start our holiday. One eye on the fuel tank, whilst trying to spot the next open Petrol station – before the needle crept past Empty.
Don’t make the same mistake. The cost of petrol at stations near Bodrum-Milas airport is competitive, so fill up as soon as you can. And begin your holiday stress-free, with a full tank of gas!
Superb, im gonna save this one 🙂 thanks x
Useful to know, thanks for the tip
Daine – hope you get a chance to visit there soon – we love the place. Although a car isn’t essential – we rent one every time so we can gad-about!
