Fuel Prices for your Rental Car
Fuel prices vary by company, but to give you an idea of sample fuel prices at pumps on the Bodrum Peninsula, here’s some websites you can try, and also a sample pricing as of April 2014.
Shell Fuel Pump Prices
- Visit the Shell Fuel Price Website
- In the drop down box “Il Seciniz” – Set the Location to Mugla (which is the district) and it’ll show you the costs in the various towns across the region (including Bodrum)
The results will show your the Turkish Lira cost per litre of both Petrol and Diesel, example below:
Opet Fuel Pump Prices
Opet stations are about the same price as Full, and you can view their current prices on their website.
- Visit the Opet Fuel Price Website
- The first town on the list “Basement” is the English name for Bodrum.
Petrol Ofisi Pump Prices
I wasn’t able to find the right place on this Turkish website for the Pump prices.
On Turkish forums, I’ve seen negative comments about the quality of this fuel, but I don’t have any first hand knowledge of this.
FAQs:
Are the Petrol/Gas stations self-service?
- No they’re not. An attendant will fill up your car, and you’ll get your windows washed at the same time too!
- If other services are performed, checking the oil, putting air in a tire, etc., you may want to offer a tip.
Do Petrol/Gas stations accept Credit Cards?
- Yes, the majority of them do. But carry some Turkish Lira just in case their system is down, and you need to fill up.
Can I carry a back up petrol can in my car … just in case I run out?
- Yes, as long as it’s in a fireproof container.
“A Taste of Travel” is a blog by Jenny, and recently she posted an article (March 2014) about Driving Tips in Turkey, and here’s an excerpt from the article about Fuel:
Both petrol and diesel are expensive. It became a bit of game for my husband who would get excited when he saw a station offering cheap prices. Prices varied from 3.77TL to 4. 50TL a litre for diesel which is what most cars use!
The toilets in the larger chain service stations are very clean. Look for an Opet or Petrol Ofisi station.
