Bus Timetable for Kalymnos
Even if you’re only taking a day trip to the Greek Island of Kalymnos you still have time to take a local bus to explore more of the island than Pothia. The bus stop is located on the left at the end of the ferry boat jetty. The latest bus timetable is printed out and taped to the window of the small bus depot office.
Kalymnos Bus Timetable
Here’s the 2019 bus timetable from https://www.kalymnos-isl.gr/en/information/bus-itineraries to help you navigate this Dodecanese island. The port landing harbour is Pothia.
We took a day trip from Turgutreis to Kalymnos on the Yesil Marmaris Catamaran (June 2019), and although the boat took 50 minutes to get to Kalymnos, the line to get through Greek passport control took even longer, so we just missed the 11am bus to Mirties. So we had about an hour to kill until the next bus.
It was 2 Euro (one-way) from Pothia to Mirties, and the bus does a loop turning around Armeos. We had lunch at Mirties, and although it was a delicious lunch it was really rushed, because we had to get the 2:20pm bus back to Pothia to make sure we made it back in time to get our ferry back to Turgutreis, because the next bus was nearly 2 hours later, and that would have been a tight squeeze for the ferry departure.
Ideally you should head to the ferry door before it docks, so that you can be one of the first few passengers off, and then that way you will be able to catch the 11am bus and have a chilled lunch and wander along the beach before heading back to Pothia.
Even though there aren’t a lot of buses, it’s still a good way to see the island, and I’m pleased we hopped on the bus for a short tour of the western coast.
