- Eczane are private businesses and only a licensed pharmacist can own one.
What can I buy at a Pharmacy?
- Even basic medications like aspirin or vitamins can only be purchased from a pharmacy.
- Just like Boots the Chemist and other drug stores around the wold, you can buy toiletries like toothbrushes, toothpaste, sunscreens, condoms, shampoos and cosmetics.
- In tourist areas like Bodrum they may even sell beach toys, hats and sun glasses.
Can I get medical attention at a Pharmacy?
- The Pharmacy can help you take care of basic healthcare like dressing a wound or taking your blood pressure.
- The apprentices on hand are also required to have a special licence which makes a pharmacy a reliable source of medical help.
How Can I find a Pharmacy?
- You can recognize a pharmacy from the “E” sign hanging perpendicularly on its storefront.
- There should also be an “ECZANE” sign somewhere on the main window. These standards are defined by the authorities and valid countrywide.

- Normal hours are between 08:00 – 20:00 from Monday to Saturday.
- If you need access to a pharmacy out of their working hours, including Sundays, there is always one or more pharmacy on duty in the neighbourhood. This is a legal obligation for handling any emergency.
- All pharmacies are required to put a list of closest open pharmacies and their addresses on their storefront. Look for the “Nobetci Eczane” sign in the window, which means “pharmacy on duty”, and you’ll see the address of the nearest pharmacy that’s open.
