New Monthly Bodrum Photo Gallery Showcase

Now that I’ve relocated to the Bodrum Peninsula full-time I’m meeting many more expats who have made Bodrum their home.

Today I’m excited to introduce Annie who I “met” on Facebook via her Bodrum and Beyond Photography Facebook page. She posts frequent images of the Bodrum she discovers while walking around her local neighbourhood, and also other locations a little bit further afield. Each month we’re going to showcase a photo gallery of local images, and this month’s theme is “Wandering the Back Streets of Bodrum”.

I chose this theme to kick off our photo gallery series, because I also love wandering the back streets of Bodrum with my camera and you can click here to see my images.

Meet Annie from Bodrum and Beyond Photography

I’m a Scottish expat, who has spent the past 25 years living both here in Bodrum and Istanbul. I have a lovely Turkish husband, and we have a 17 year old son together.

Since living in Turkey, my husband and I have owned bars and restaurants, and more recently I’ve had a greeting card business selling my photographs to some of the big shops in the cities.

I love to go out with my camera recording the things that make up Bodrum’s unique personality.

I especially love the old and the rustic, and I’m constantly amazed at the rich history just below our feet. Even on the surface, there are door lintels, doorsteps and garden walls which have all been pillaged from much grander buildings. So much to see if we just open our eyes……..

I count myself very lucky living in such an amazing corner of the world.

Wandering the Back Streets of Bodrum with Annie

Nothing nicer than wandering around the backstreets of old Bodrum with the camera. It’s always a bit of a challenge trying to get a shot without motorbikes, but lovely when you do. You never know when a photogenic cat will pop out or when you’ll get chased by a territorial dog. All part of the fun! Annie

Here’s a colourful little alley to brighten your spirits on a dreary day

My house, or the steps up to it at least. I took this photo years ago, and I must have sold hundreds of copies of it as greetings cards. My poor bougainvillea was a victim of last winters frost. It was beautiful but very messy!

Such an old house.. I’d have loved a look inside….

The stairs to my house. A picture from last summer. Looking a bit forlorn at the moment, but spring is in the air. It won’t be long until it’s a riot of colour again….

Undoubtedly the tallest cactus I’ve ever seen. Like a giant bristly totum pole!
I caught this Bodrum moggy heading off to the French restaurant round the corner. Probably hoping that a nice slice of heavily buttered toast topped with a generous helping of pate foie gras is going begging…..

Here’s a shot of a giant cactus you can’t miss. I just noticed the security camera on the roof. Perhaps the owners are afraid that a cat burglar will try and scale this bristly beast………

I just love the Bodrum colours. Blue and turquoise go so well together…..
