Brief Introduction to Bodrum Amphitheatre
Bodrum Theatre has all the features of a classical period theatre. It has similar design principles to Epidauros Theatre in Greece, where the “parados” walls turns inward after the lower “cavea“, has a horseshoe shape.
Since there is no other theatre building in the region with these features, Bodrum Theatre is a unique example of this period.
The original capacity of the theatre is estimated as 10,000 people, whereas the present capacity is closer to 4,000 people. The lower levels have been renovated and restored, but the upper levels are still a work in progress.
