Introducing Binnur Tomay

Binnur is a Turkish housewife and mother, who grew up in a Traditional Turkish household.  She’s been living in Canada since 1995, where she spends a lot of her free time in the kitchen cooking Traditional Turkish meals.

In 2005, her daughter encouraged her to post her recipes online, and she’s been an active blogger ever since.  Her key motivation is to introduce others to the variety of Turkish Cuisine.  In 2007, Binnur published “Binnur’s Turkish Cookbook”, a collection of healthy and simple-to-prepare dishes.  As a non-meat eater, I was pleased to see her heavy use of vegetables and grains as recipe ingredients.

Thanks to Binnur, for allowing us to publish a collection of her Turkish Recipes, which originally appear on her Turkish Cookbook website.  I’ve chosen receips that are indicative of dishes you’ll find in Bodrum Peninsula restuarants, or can be made with ingredients found in the local markets.

If you’re heading out to the Bodrum Peninsula for a self-catering holiday, here’s a collection of recipes you can experiment with during your stay.

  1. Do you know what has happened to Binnur? Is she okay? Her website seems to be down, now. I absolutely adore her recipes and cookbook! But is she all right? I really hope she is doing well! Much love to you, Binnur!
