Akyarlar Bay, Turgutreis
Once past Akçabük Bay, you’ll round the bend as the road starts to hug the coastline again. You’ll see the village in the distance and the small harbour jetty in the foreground. This village, is the hub of activity for this corner of the peninsula, and is about 8.5km from Turgutreis Town Centre. The beach and village has a selection of bars and restaurants. There is also a small weekly market, and a selection of shops. It’s not as touristy as Gümüşlük, but it’s a good stopping off point if you’re touring the Bodrum Peninsula. It’s also one of the anchor-drops for a day boat from Turgutreis on the southern tour.

It all looks wonderfully familiar, though I’ve never been. Reminiscent of so many lovely Turkish coves I sailed into (Greek ones too, but I’m probably not allowed to say that 🙂 )

Akyarlar is tucked away in to the corner of the Peninsula, and not a lot of people make the journey there, even though the popular town of Turgutreis is just around the corner.
