Yalikavak Weekly Market – Textiles & House-wares section:
After exploring the food stalls at Yalikavak’s Thursday market, venture towards the quadrant at the northern end of the market to stroll around the non-food section.
- The textile stalls are heaped with a vast array of bedding, curtains, clothing and fabric – there’s something to appeal to every taste level. There’s a large selection of the local cream cotton bedding and curtains.
- House-ware stalls stock a dizzying selection of Turkish coffee cups and tea glasses, along with a mixture of crockery and kitchen utensils.
- There’s hardware stalls with a big enough variety of tools and gadgets to please the most discerning handyman or gardener.
- Beads seem to be prevalent here – loose; strung into bracelets, chimes or charms, and pressed into lamps. There’s also a smattering of low cost handicrafts and tourist trinkets, including a plethora of seeds – dried and threaded to dangle in the wind.
Yalikavak Maket is a great place to while-away a couple of hours. Guaranteed, you’ll walk away with something you don’t need.
